What a child can and cannot do

Children cannot send each other messages

Learners can join a small group — a pod — with other families. Inside it they can only send phrases from a fixed list that Atlas staff have reviewed, plus a few emoji. There is no text box. A child cannot type something to another child, and cannot share a name, an address or where they are.

A parent decides what is switched on

Pods, Pip chat (including the story coach) and voice input are each off until a parent turns them on. Some writing, such as journal entries, the Pip text box and Book Studio saves, is still sent to OpenAI for a safety check even when those are off.

If something concerning comes up

If a conversation raises a concern, Atlas raises a flag and emails the parent. While a flag is open the learner's account goes quiet — no lessons, no games, no messages, and no celebrations. Nothing resumes until a parent resolves it.

Parents can read everything

Every tutoring conversation is stored and visible from the parent dashboard. Some of what your child types or says is sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, to run lessons, safety checks and reports. We're expanding our privacy notice to list exactly what's sent and how long it's kept. Questions: privacy@atlasdoctrina.com.

No dark patterns

There are no loot boxes, no random rewards, no countdowns, no streaks that punish a missed day, and no leaderboards ranking children. Rewards come from mastering something, and a parent approves what they are worth.
